Munich Quantum Instruments (MQI) is a young German deep‐tech company specializing in superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) for quantum communication and sensing.

Founded in 2022 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Munich, MQI produces compact, multi-channel photon detectors designed to unlock new capabilities in high-rate quantum key distribution (QKD), quantum computing readout, and advanced photonic imaging. The company’s patented detector architecture promises unprecedented scalability and efficiency, addressing the industrial limits of today’s SNSPD systems .
