About this report
Croatia has completed the acquisition of a squadron of Dassault Rafale fighter jets from France, marking a transformative upgrade of its air force and a milestone in the country’s military modernization. On April 25, 2025, the final batch of Rafales touched down at Pleso Air Base near Zagreb, exactly one year after the first jets arrived, officially handing over all 12 aircraft Croatia purchased.
This $1.1 billion (€999 million) deal, agreed in 2021, provides Croatia with a fleet of multi-role 4.5-generation fighters that far surpass the capabilities of its outgoing MiG-21BisD jets from the Soviet era.
