Objective

Each year, chemicals worth €8bn are used for Mosquito Vector Control (MVC). Still, mosquito-borne diseases constitute a major socio-economic burden. As insecticides start losing efficacy and toxic chemicals are being banned from use (in the west in particular), we are becoming increasingly defenceless. By 2050, an additional 1bn people will be at risk of contracting at least one mosquito-borne disease due to the rapid expansion of habitats of mosquito vectors.Molecular Attraction is a pioneer in mosquito-specific phagostimulants and pheromones. We can control mosquito behaviour using minute quantities of highly effective, affordable and perfectly green semiochemicals. In the project, we will conduct a large-scale trial in sub-Saharan Africa to evaluate the efficacy, cost-effectiveness and environmental impact of our unique blends. The trial results will be leveraged to enter the global MVC market.
