Objective

FarmInsect responds to the global need for alternative protein sources for animal feed in a sustainable and efficient way for farmers.FarmInsect is the first Insect company to put existing farmer in the center of the solution. Utilizing BSF larvae in a full closed loop system, farmers feed the larvae on organic sidestreams. Just as nature’s perfect upcycling machines, larvae convert organic residues to create high-quality protein to feed animals. With FarmInsect, a livestock farmer can produce up to 1.000tn/yr of BSF larvae at €800 vs. 1.350€/t of fishmeal towards replacing dependency on global markets. Key to farmers is the healthy value of larvae feed for animals. The BSF larvae contain natural immune-boosting peptides that improve the immune system of farm animals. Insects as feed reduce abnormal behavior such as feather picking in chickens or tail biting in pigs.Furthermore, added value organic fertilizer is produced as byproduct.
