Objective
Critical limb Threatening ischemia (CLTI) is caused by chronic total occlusions (CTOs) in the arteries of the lower extremities. Left untreated, the complications of CLTI results in amputation of the affected limb. The prognosis for those diagnosed with CLTI is comparative to an aggressive cancer. At 1 year post diagnosis, 25% of patients will die and 30% had an amputation, 60% are dead by year 5CTO is caused by the build-up and calcification of plaque inside the artery, blocking the artery and hardens over time and prevents the passage of a guidewire or therapy device through the vessel. Versono has designed and developed a solution to allow an endovascular surgeon to confidently cross 90% of occlusions within 10 minsThis dedicated CTO guidewire uses an acoustic wave (ultrasound) to penetrate through the calcium/plaque and enable physicians to apply other treatments like stents, balloons or atherectomy devices to unblock the CTO and restore blood flow to the tissue downstream.
