Objective

Millions of tons of oil seeds / fruit seeds, especially their protein-rich presscakes currently go to waste as they contain a too high amount of cyanogenic glycosides. As these naturally present substances are toxic at a certain level of consumption, these seed(-presscakes) currently cannot enter the food industry and are as a result being disposed. Kern Tec has developed a process to remove these cyanogenic substances and therefore detoxify the seeds which upcycles these raw materials from waste to superfood. The results are food safe seed(-presscakes) as a processable protein-powder that can be used as ingredients in the food industry in various applications where plant based proteins are demanded.
