Objective

ADAPT-AB develops and validates a perception-and-decision core that transforms script-driven laboratory automation into real-time, decision-capable operation. Although experiments are automated, biological interpretation remains largely post-hoc, slowing iteration and increasing redundancy in antibiotic discovery and early in-vitro toxicology. ADAPT-AB embeds high-frequency sensing, edge AI interpretation and deterministic decision outputs directly into experiments, enabling safe, autonomous adaptation within predefined constraints and human oversight. The Physical AI architecture integrates (i) Resistell’s ResiDaq core, enabling multi-channel acquisition up to 60 kHz with embedded preprocessing and AI inference, (ii) FESTO’s LifeTech Controller as deterministic control backbone for robotics and fluid handling, and (iii) nanomotion sensing modules quantifying bacterial and mammalian cellular responses in 96-well formats. ResiDaq fuses efficacy and toxicity outputs and issues unified commands to the LifeTech Controller to orchestrate liquid handling, incubation and connected devices in a closed loop.Resistell, the applicant, provides the ResiDaq edge AI platform, proprietary nanomotion technology, certified BSL2 laboratories and an ISO 13485-compliant QMS, supported by granted and pending patents covering sensing, optical readout and signal analysis algorithms. FESTO contributes industrial automation expertise and its LifeTech platform, enabling scalable integration and deployment.Stage 1 delivers a TRL 6 integrated prototype validated under realistic laboratory conditions and benchmarked against growth-based and endpoint assays using predefined KPIs. Commercialisation follows a dual path: ResiDaq as an OEM-ready embeddable decision layer for third-party automation, and the fully integrated closed-loop platform for antibiotic and toxicology workflows, enabling scale-up through OEM partnerships, licensing and industrial deployment in Stage 2 and beyond.
