Objective

Adaptavate is addressing construction's carbon crisis with Breathaboard, the world's first carbon-negative wallboard that sequesters a total of 4kg CO2/m² (net storage 1Kg CO2/m²) while providing superior performance to traditional gypsum plasterboard. Buildings emit 37% of global emissions.Breathaboard brings breakthrough biochar technology, turning construction waste into carbon-sequestering wallboard through controlled pyrolysis and accelerated carbonation. This drop-in replacement delivers industry-standard performance while achieving carbon negativity—impossible with traditional materials. Our TRL 6 industrial prototype achieves BRE-verified 4kg CO2 sequestration per m² with semi-continuous production and EN 520 compliance.EIC funding will:• Advance technology to TRL 8 through 10X manufacturing scale-up validating integrated co-location of pyrolysis and carbonation stages that utilize residual heat for curing and CO2 for mineralization, de-risking cost-effective manufacturing integration for licensing partners across Europe's 556M m² addressable wallboard market.• Secure CE Mark for EU market entry and establish carbon credit validation pathways for revenue diversification.• Meet carbon storage policies across target markets with building materials as critical carbon removal infrastructure.Adaptavate's asset-light licensing model accelerates global expansion by partnering with established manufacturers rather than competing with them. By 2030, we project licensing 9.5M m² annual Breathaboard production, generating €17.1M licensing revenues while partners capture €570M total sales value. This strategy targets regulatory-driven demand where compliance timelines create immediate revenue opportunities, positioning Adaptavate as the essential technology partner for manufacturers transitioning to carbon-negative production capabilities.
