Objective

Interventional Oncology (IO) is emerging as the fourth pillar of cancer care. These procedures involve guiding millimeter-thin instruments through the skin directly into tumors, demanding submillimeter precision. Instrument placement is monitored using non-invasive imaging, yet – unlike in heart attack and stroke, where dedicated imaging is well established – IO still lacks a tailored solution, facing many challenges such as spatial constraints, high radiation exposure, and poor integration with surgical tools and workflows.RAYDIAX has addressed this gap by developing the first imaging solution purpose-built for Interventional Oncology: the Therapy Assistance Computed Tomograph TACT. TACT embodies a uniquely integrated system architecture that delivers three core advantages: hybrid imaging, dose optimization, and seamless interventional workflow. Using a TACT generates substantial socio-economic value by enabling resource- and patient-sparing cancer care, expanding access to minimally invasive treatments to over 1 million patients annually. We primarily target the image-guided surgery systems market, estimated at €6.5 billion in 2025 and expected to grow to €9.2B by 2032, at a CAGR of 6%. Additional growth opportunities arise from the robotic surgery market, giving a large market potential of an additional €18.2B.The TACT solution is at TRL 6 as we have completed and demonstrated its “First Ablation Prototype” with imaging on phantoms, animals, and body donors. In the EIC Accelerator project, RAYDIAX aims to build two pre-commercial systems to conduct clinical on-site validation studies and obtain CE and FDA approvals in parallel.
