Objective

Quantum computing promises revolutionary impact in many sectors, but achieving scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computers requires much better quantum chips. In particular, defects and spurious currents that cause decoherence of the quantum states, need to be identified and controlled to allow further scaling. However, current methods for diagnosing quantum chip defects are inadequate, limiting yield, scalability, and performance, and make the chip R&D exceedingly difficult. To address these challenges, QuantaMap has developed a non-invasive, high-resolution AFM-SQUID microscope based on our patented nano-SQUID quantum sensors. Our product, the 'NAUTILUS’ microscope platform will have the following unique capabilities: •High sensitivity: detects subtle magnetic fields, currents, RF and dissipation, enabling identification of defects that cause decoherence, and that are invisible to other tools, •Multi-parameter imaging: simultaneously images multiple chip properties for a more complete picture, 3-4x faster than sequential acquisition, •High spatial resolution: provides <10nm resolution (AFM) and <100nm (SQUID) for detailed analysis,•Non-invasive imaging: electronic readout avoids interference from lasers or RF sources and prevents chip damage, •In-situ: operates at millikelvin temperatures where quantum chips work. NAUTILUS will speed up R&D (25% faster time-to-market) and improve manufacturing yield (10% points increase) by detecting issues early, providing unique value to our customers, the quantum chip manufacturers. With the EIC Accelerator ‘NAUTILUS’ project, we aim to grow from a prototype stage to manufacturing and selling fully commercialised NAUTILUS systems and related services quantum R&D and chip manufacturers. We project a revenue growth for QuantaMap of 200% annually, grow our team to 85 full-time employees (FTEs) and to establish ourselves as leaders in diagnostic tools and metrology services for the quantum industry by 2030.
