Objective

ArgusEye is revolutionizing bioprocessing in the biopharmaceutical industry through provision of real-time data on critical process parameters and quality attributes. Biopharmaceuticals, or biologics, are becoming central to modern healthcare replacing small molecule drugs. However, this is hindered by availability issues in Europe, where biologics account for 60% of all drug shortages. Manufacturing costs for biologics are about 10 times higher than traditional pharma, with longer process development times extending time-to-market. Outdated manufacturing practice is a major issue as bioprocessing is still performed stepwise with intermediate offline laboratory checks to obtain critical process and quality parameters. Such a paradigm extends production time, hampers process automation and leads to an increased environmental footprint. ArgusEye addresses the status quo with its pioneering nanoplasmonic detection technology, enabling real-time, in-line monitoring of critical process and quality parameters across the entire bioprocess chain. Our Auga platform technology replaces outdated time-consuming laboratory methods, accelerating biologics process development with a potential to reduce OPEX/CAPEX through transition to continuous manufacturing. The solution enhances biologics availability by cutting manufacturing costs and shortening time-to-market, while significantly improving sustainability through decreased process mass intensity. The Auga platform is well suited to address the EU’s Pharmaceutical Strategy goals of improving access to biologics and the EU Green Deal's aim of enhancing sustainability in the industry. With EIC support, we aim to adapt our technology, build facilities for LSPR sensor chip manufacturing, and expand on markets, positioning ArgusEye as a global leader in real-time, plug-and-play analytical solutions for bioprocessing.
