Objective
Global studies show a rise in severe weather events, particularly storms and turbulence, increasingly impacting air traffic. These adverse conditions lead to fuel-consuming detours, higher maintenance costs, in-flight injuries, and an increased workload for pilots and Air Traffic Management, raising accident risks. Light and Business Aircraft are especially vulnerable due to their lower weight and typical operation in lower atmospheric layers where turbulence is more prevalent. Turbulence Cancelling is a break-through technology that reduces the adverse effects of in-flight turbulence by more than 80%. It mimics birds' natural turbulence mitigation, enabling aircraft to deliver smoother, more stable flights. Turbulence Cancelling has already proven effective in the European Ultralight Aircraft segment, providing credibility for its expansion into more regulated markets like certified Light Aircraft and Business Aircraft. The emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector, focusing on electric aircraft for urban transport, will also benefit from TCS, particularly as aircraft operating in urban canyons are susceptible to turbulence. NASA has highlighted the importance of mitigating turbulence to foster public acceptance of AAM technology, making TCS a key enabler for the sector's success. The EIC Accelerator provides important funding for the innovation development in highly complex and regulated markets that cannot be reached otherwise. Our request for 2.1M € grant-only enables us to bring the Light Aircraft and Business Aircraft to TRL 8 and to become the world-leading company for Turbulence Cancelling, making the whole aviation industry turbulence-free and not be limited to only smaller bridgehead markets. Without EIC support, our groundbreaking and patented European Turbulence Cancelling technology, would not have the means to penetrate these industries, missing out on significant worldwide economic opportunities and advancements in aviation safety and efficiency.
