Objective

OQ Technology proposes a European 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) satellite direct-to-mobile communication service based on the 3GPP standards. Through this grant, OQ Technology intends to demonstrate the proposed solution through an In-Orbit Demonstration satellite mission providing SMS and emergency services for direct-to-mobile based on the 5G 3GPP standards. This shall allow OQ Technology to be the first European player to make a huge social impact in connecting the unconnected globally and saving millions of lives by enabling satellite-based SMS and emergency services on the smartphones, for the public. OQ Technology has a proven expertise in space and telecommunications, demonstrated through its track record of eight successful missions in the past three years. OQ Technology will leverage and improve its existing intellectual properties of its 5G protocol stack implementations for NTN to enable the proposed services; with its divergent multi-cultural team of 30 members coming from 14 different ethnicities and nationalities.
