Objective
With a worldwide incidence expected to increase from 9 million cases in 2023 to 11 million cases by 2030, cardiac arrest is a public health crisis with a survival rate at only around 10% and a high degree of brain damage among the few survivors. Defibrillators cannot be used in 76% of cardiac arrest patients due to a non-shockable rhythm, leading to an extremely low survival-to-discharge for these patients (3.3%).Neurescue Aps (NEUR) addresses the cardiac arrest burden by bringing to market a game-changing solution – the Neurescue device – the world's first intelligent fluoroscopy-free aortic balloon catheter. By combining unique proprietary features including 1) an intelligent system for automated balloon inflation and deflation managed by the controller component, coupled with 2) precise positioning feedback from the patented sensor system in the catheter, these together provide a safe computer-controlled aortic balloon occlusion for use both inside and outside hospital settings. The Neurescue device increases blood flow to the heart and brain, which makes the patient more likely to respond to resuscitation efforts. This also increases the likelihood of bridging patients to definitive therapies, extending the critical time window from the current 20-30 min to ~60 min. This is especially valuable in patients with a non-shockable rhythm for whom the standard of care (SoC) results in extremely low survival (3.3%). The use of the Neurescue device, both inside and outside hospitals, is expected to increase the survival rate of cardiac patients by up to 40% - thereby holding the potential to save millions of lives.The Neurescue device is projected to be ready for commercial roll-out by 2027 reaching €931.37M in revenues by 2033. The PULSE project aims to surpass the main market barriers associated with the market introduction of the Neurescue device, namely gathering data for a CE mark and clinical validation to ensure end-user adoption
