Objective
Drug discovery is a lengthy and costly process, often exceeding a decade and involving investments upwards of €1.3bn. Despite these efforts, a staggering 90% of drug candidates fail in clinical trials, never reaching patients. This inefficiency underscores the urgent need for innovation in drug discovery methodologies.Iktos proposes a transformative approach with its closed-loop AI-guided autonomous drug discovery platform, leveraging generative AI and built-in synthetic accessibility. This paradigm shift addresses key challenges in traditional drug discovery, including the generation of truly novel molecules, the speed of synthesis, and the management of high-dimensional data. Central to Iktos' solution are advanced SaaS platforms such as Makya and Spaya, powered by AI for rapid exploration of vast chemical spaces and efficient synthesis route planning. In this EIC Accelerator project, we want to combine AI and robotics to form a closed-loop, data-informed discovery platform, integrating AI-driven automated synthesis and testing into our workflow. Combined together these technologies enable the in silico design of optimal molecules and their corresponding synthesis in the lab to generate real-life data, accelerating the drug discovery timeline from an average of 5 years to just 2 years. Iktos' innovative approach leverages AI and robotics' potential to revolutionize pharmaceutical R&D, offering promising solutions to enhance the efficiency and success rate of bringing new medicines to patients globally.
