Objective

Without carbon removal humanity will struggle to achieve carbon neutrality. The IPCC estimates that 6 gigatonnes of CO2 will need to be removed by 2050 to limit global warming to 1.5C. Bio-based solutions are relatively affordable, but have limited scalability. Technological solutions have recently been developed, but remain several orders of magnitude too expensive for mass market uptake.Phlair has developed a breakthrough electrolyser that can decrease the costs of CO2 capture to below €75/tonne at megatonne scale. The objective of CAPTURE is to finalise the development of the third iteration of our technology (Gen3) and to deploy it in a demo plant. Successful deployment will validate the Gen3 10t-CO2/year minimum viable product in front of investors and customers, enabling us to raise funding to build out a mass manufacturing line. We aim for our devices to capture over 500,000t-CO2/year by 2030, with a vision to remove 100 megatonnes of CO2/year by 2045.
