Natrix – Strategic-Technological Analysis of the Modular UGV Platform

Natrix Systems SIA is a Latvian deep-tech startup (founded 2024) developing a modular unmanned ground vehicle for military and dual-use applications. The UGV supports logistics (200 kg payload, ~20 km/h, multi-channel comms) and casualty evacuation, and can be armed or fitted with surveillance payloads. The company prioritizes European components and aims to fill capability gaps in allied ground operations. Strategic alignment includes autonomous systems (AI navigation) and multi-domain C4ISR integration (e.g. drone-enabled comm relay).

Natrix has been tested in combat zones (Ukraine) and is entering production, supported by Latvian state grants. No known EU defence programmes are listed, but Natrix’s performance under fire and focus on EU standards position it as a noteworthy emerging contributor to European strategic autonomy and NATO interoperability. Natrix Systems SIA is a Latvian limited liability company (SIA) registered in February 2024. The company’s legal name is Sabiedrība ar ierobežotu atbildību “NATRIX” and its registered office is at Rītausmas iela 7A, Rīga, Latvia.

This micro-sized entity (paid-in capital €2,805) operates independently; it is not a state-owned enterprise nor a subsidiary of a larger prime contractor. The ownership is held by private Latvian individuals (three natural-person beneficiaries disclosed), with a Board structure (a Chairman and two members) established at formation. Its corporate governance appears founder-led: Kristaps Puķe serves as Chief Executive Officer and Board Chairman, while co-founder Gatis Vectirāns is Chief Operating Officer and Head of R&D. No evidence of venture-capital ownership or sovereign-fund backing is indicated; the company is self-funded with seed investment and national R&D grants (see below).

Natrix maintains an online presence through its official website (natrix.eu) and social media, and holds an EU VAT number (LV40203539978) active since February 2024. There is no public listing; the firm is private and currently small-scale (year-2024 tax filings report ~4 employees, operating losses).
