BAE Systems has taken a critical step in the development of tactical counter-drone systems by successfully testing a weaponised version of its Malloy T-150 drone, equipped with the APKWS® laser-guidance system. The trials, held in Utah at the U.S. Army’s Dugway Proving Ground, demonstrated the ability of the TRV-150—a modified, logistics-optimized version of the T-150—to destroy both air and ground targets. This marks the first known instance of APKWS munitions, previously deployed on platforms like the F-16 and Apache, being launched from a multi-rotor Uncrewed Air System (UAS) in an air-to-air configuration. The T-150 was initially designed for tactical logistics support and is already in operational use with the U.S. Marine Corps and the UK Royal Navy for ship-to-ship cargo transfer.
