AquaHub – Strategic-Technological Analysis (European Defense Context)

AquaHub is a Polish deep-tech startup founded in 2024, focusing on innovative modular docking and charging systems for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV/ROVs). It positions itself to fill a key capability gap: enabling unmanned maritime drones to recharge and operate continuously without surface support. By providing “reliable wireless recharging” for sea drones, AquaHub aims to enhance around-the-clock surveillance of ports, pipelines, and offshore infrastructure. This technology directly contributes to European strategic autonomy by reducing dependence on foreign equipment for critical naval operations.

AquaHub is a Warsaw-based deep-tech startup (founded 2024) developing modular underwater charging and docking stations for maritime drones. Its technology aligns primarily with the Autonomous Systems & Robotics category of EU Emerging Disruptive Technologies (e.g. naval drones and electronics) and addresses NATO’s focus on autonomy and innovation.

By emphasizing “100% European design & manufacturing”, AquaHub aims to substitute non-European suppliers in the critical maritime autonomy sector. The company has engaged with EU programs (winning the DG DEFIS EUDIS hackathon, joining the BlueInvest pipeline) and ties to European research networks, but its systems are currently at TRL 3–4. No field-proven prototype is yet shown. Closing the remaining development, validation, and supply-chain gaps could significantly bolster EU naval autonomy and collective defense.
