About this report
In the rapidly evolving arena of European space technology, one Finnish startup is translating cutting-edge research into strategic capability. Born from a collaboration of Aalto University satellite pioneers and the tech company Reaktor in 2016 , Reaktor Space Lab – now known as Kuva Space – has emerged as a leader in hyperspectral satellite imaging powered by artificial intelligence.
The company’s first nanosatellite, launched in late 2018, carried an infrared hyperspectral camera developed by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland . This achievement marked Finland’s first commercial satellite in orbit and demonstrated a new way to capture detailed spectral data from space.
