About this report
Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT), Latvia’s leading mobile operator, has emerged as an unexpected pivot for European defence innovation. Traditionally a national telecom provider, LMT has built a dedicated LMT Defence division and collaborated closely with Latvia’s Ministry of Defence and NATO.
In 2020 it helped launch Europe’s first 5G military testbed at Camp Ādaži (Latvia) in partnership with the Latvian Armed Forces . This secured 5G network, developed with European (Nokia) technology, now serves as an open innovation hub for NATO and EU partners.
