Founded in 1966 by CGE (later Alcatel) and Saint-Gobain to industrialize laboratory laser research , CILAS has evolved under various owners (formerly ArianeGroup, now jointly owned by Safran Electronics & Defense and MBDA) .
Today it operates R&D and production facilities in Orléans and Aubagne (France) and serves international defense customers. Its core products include high-energy lasers, laser designators, and optical amplifiers.
