Objective

Recent challenges in the world’s oceans, including illegal migration, drug bale drop-offs, attacks on underwater infrastructure, and other transnational maritime threats, have intensified the need for continuous, wide-area maritime surveillance. These activities often occur beyond visual and radar range, demanding over-the-horizon situational awareness and persistent, multi-domain monitoring across aerial, surface, and underwater environments. The project addresses these challenges by developing an interoperable maritime surveillance framework that integrates long-range fixed-wing aerial systems, low-cost surface buoys, and stealth, long-endurance autonomous underwater gliders equipped with multi-modal sensing capabilities. The Maritime RF Sensing Node (MRSN), in coordination with existing C4IS infrastructures, enables seamless interoperability, secure communication, and coordinated mission management across all domains.Leveraging AI-based modelling, multi-sensor data fusion, and anomaly detection, the system autonomously identifies, classifies, and tracks suspicious maritime behaviors in real time, supporting rapid and reliable decision-making in complex environments. Designed with robustness against cyber attacks and communication disruptions, the architecture ensures data integrity, security, and operational continuity even under contested conditions. Through its real-time surveillance and long-time endurance, the project delivers an adaptive, scalable, and cyber-resilient maritime intelligence framework, reinforcing European maritime safety, security, and technological sovereignty
