Objective
IIPGHCD – Iran, Israel, and the Persian Gulf in Historical and Contemporary Dynamics will provide a new reading of Middle Eastern history and politics from 1971 to 2025 through a triangular study of Iran, Israel, and the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. Breaking with existing interpretations that treat the history of Iran and the Arab–Israeli conflict in isolation, the project’s overall objective is to produce the first integrated account of Iranian–Gulf– Israeli relations, situating them within broader transformations in global order from the Cold War to today’s multipolar world. By creating a historically informed and comparative framework, IIPGHCD will contribute to both scholarship and policymaking, clarifying how the region’s past and present are interconnected and how they shape contemporary European and international policy concerns.
